Legal Attaché, US Embassy London
Mr. Boetig is the Legal Attaché (Legat) at the United States Embassy in London. He is responsible for leading all Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) relations in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
Mr. Boetig joined the FBI as a Special Agent in July 1998 and was assigned to the Washington, DC Field Office where he worked on the International Terrorism–Extraterritorial Investigations Squad and the Joint Terrorism Task Force.
In 2006, Supervisory Special Agent Boetig was selected to lead the FBI’s San Francisco Field Office’s cyber investigative program in Silicon Valley at the San José Resident Agency. In this capacity, he also supervised a California state funded high technology crimes task force.
He accepted a United States Intelligence Community Joint Duty Assignment in 2008 as a Senior FBI Liaison Officer at the Central Intelligence Agency where he coordinated interagency counterterrorism efforts. In 2010, he was promoted to an Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Oklahoma City Field Office where he led all national security and cyber programs throughout the state, including terrorism task forces located in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Mr. Boetig entered the United States Government’s Senior Executive Service (SES) in 2012 with his selection to serve as the Director of the National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force (NCIJTF), the federal cyber center responsible for the integration, coordination, and sharing of all cyber investigative threat information with domestic and international partners.
