Paul has worked in Information and Cyber Security for over thirteen years of a twenty-three year career in IT. He has held senior Information Security Leadership roles in sectors including UK Critical National Infrastructure, Retail, Finance and Media and currently heads up the security operation for Domino’s Pizza Group PLC, who operate the Domino’s brand across UK, ROI and Europe.
Within these roles Paul was additionally responsible for business continuity, crisis management and disaster recovery operations particularly in the finance and Critical National Infrastructure sectors, and has been involved in the planning, execution and debriefing process for several business-disruption events – both simulated and real-life. He recognises the significant value of including employees in all aspects of resilience planning and having them champion the resiliency cause as a business-as-usual activity – and of course the importance of “testing, testing, and testing again”.
Paul recognises the power of the people in enabling organisations to remain safe and secure and is a firm believer in engaging with staff, contractors and suppliers on a personal and professional level alike to raise situational awareness of security across business. He also is a strong advocate at instilling security situational awareness in children at an early age and volunteers as a Child Internet Safety ambassador, as well as promoting STEM and Information Security as a career path that is inclusive at a time when supply is low and demand for skills is high.
Outside of work Paul provides voluntary support within the local education system. He has been a chair of the board of governors for a local primary school for the last six years and was recently appointed to the board of directors for one of Buckinghamshire’s Multi-Academy Trust organisations, encompassing a further five primary and secondary schools in the area. He is currently working with that trust to review their own business continuity plans and capabilities; a great opportunity to leverage one’s career skills to the benefit of the community.
